this blog covers current and classic TV shows
and reviews of upcoming television programs

TV STUFF
Andy Rooney of 60 Minutes has passed away. Working to the end, a great television voice.
I've got a site where I grab quick bites from the day's news stories so you can be up on what people are talking about - except on radio, TV and in thelocal papers!
On Saturday, November 12 The Graham Norton Show guests include Johnny Depp, Carey Mulligan, Ricky Gervais, Ed Byrne and Snow Patrol.
There's a new version of In Living Color coming to FOX. Host Keenen Ivory Wayans will produce two half-hour specials with a new cast.
Louis CK's next comedy special will be broadcast online. Starting Dec. 10, fans will be able to go to his website and watch his comedy special for five bucks. “I won’t really make any money, but it’s more fun that way.”
Jay Blotcher offers us a fantastic interview with Sam Hall, writer of the daytime serial Dark Shadows. He was also married to series co-star Grayson Hall - I was absolutely mad about her as a kid. She made the show as far as I was concerned and I can still enjoy it today primarily for her nuanced, haunting performance. Mr. Hall has some very interesting things to say about Dark Shadows - it's a candid, frank discussion that will surprise fans of the show.
GAME SHOW LAUGHS
Here's
a compilation of Bob Barker being mugged on stage by contestants and other
memorable moments from his version of The Price Is Right. Say what you will
about TPIR but at least it was positive energy in a daytime TV
landscape littered with some revolting programming.
You know you want more - funny moments with Bob and Drew Carey on The Price Is Right.

TV & DVD NEWS
SHOUT! Factory has released Mr. Magoo The Television Collection 1960-1977 which has all of Magoo's various animated series starting with the first in 1960. There's a featurette and commentaries from noted cartoon historians. It doesn't contain the Christmas special which has been available for some time, one of the best holiday treats television ever offered.
SHOUT! has also released Dennis the Menace season 3, all 38 episodes of the 1961-62 season. This was the last year with Joeseph Kearns as Mr. Wilson, he died near the end of the season and Gale Gordon stepped in to replace him as Mr. Wilson's brother, also conviniently knows as Mr. Wilson. The sad part was Mrs. Wilson, played by the wonderful Sylvia Field, had to go at the end of this season - it wouldn't look proper if she was living with another man after al. Dennis was another of those shows I watched in reruns as a boy but never really go into at all but it's pretty entertaining to watch today just as a contrast to today's TV programming. Look for a number of classic TV and radio personalities as recurring characters - for instance Willard Waterman who was the familiar voice of The Great Gildersleeve and Lucy's boss Mr. Cheevers (Charles Lane) as the drugstore owner. Kearn's abscence gave the other supporting cast members more to do and made the series a great deal more interesting and I'm a big fan of Gale Gordon so this DVD set is a keeper.
